Who built this, what it takes for a number to show up here, and how to tell us when something's wrong.
What this is
I live in Waynesville, and I build and keep this site — not the county, not any town, and not any agency listed here. It's free: no ads, no accounts, nothing to sign up for.
It's the civic sibling of Haywood Local Meat, the farm directory I keep for the county. Same idea, aimed at a different problem: skip the digging and get the plain answer. (It's one person doing this, so where the site says "we," that's me, plus anyone who pitches in later.)
The bar
- Every fact cites an official source. A county page, a state statute, a town ordinance — never a guess, and never a forum post.
- Primary numbers get called before they're marked "Verified." I dial the number, confirm it rings through to the right desk, and only then does an entry earn its Verified badge.
- Verified entries show their last-checked date. So you can judge for yourself how fresh the information is.
What this isn't

A way to report things
Nothing gets submitted from this site — there's no form, and no ticket goes anywhere. Every page points you at the office that takes the report, by phone or through its own site.

Legal advice
Ordinances and state rules get summarized in plain words with the source linked. When there's a deadline or a penalty riding on it, read the source itself, or talk to a lawyer.

If someone is in danger or a road is actively unsafe, call 911. What's here is for the calls that can wait for business hours.
