Pay property taxes
Pay online through the county’s tax payment portal — card or e-check. The portal adds its own processing fee on top of what you owe; it’s shown before you confirm the payment, not fixed in advance.
Pay by phone, by mail (address printed on your bill), or in person at Tax Collections below. A drop box at the Historic Courthouse takes checks and money orders only — no cash in the drop box.
Due dates: real estate and personal property taxes bill once a year and start accruing interest after a set date each January — check your bill or the county’s Tax Collections page for the exact date this year.
Questions about your assessed value, not the bill itself: that’s the separate Tax Assessor’s Office, not Tax Collections.
What to expect: paying online or by phone costs a card-processing fee on top of your tax; paying by mail, drop box, or in person doesn’t.

Tax Collections handles property tax billing and payment. Property value/listing questions go to the separate Haywood County Assessor's Office, 215 N. Main St., Suite 220, Waynesville, NC 28786 (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.) — no direct phone number for the Assessor's Office is published on the county site, so none is listed here to avoid guessing.
